What We Collect
We collect data only when you actively provide it:
- Email address — if you subscribe to WellFedDC Alerts
- Neighborhood preferences and alert type selections — to send you relevant notifications only
- Your name — if you participate in a WellFedDC Table group dining session
- Restaurant rankings — if you vote in a group dining session
- Restaurant suggestions — if you submit a community recommendation
We do not collect payment information, location data, or any data through cookies or tracking scripts beyond standard Netlify and Google Maps analytics.
How We Use It
- Alert subscribers — your email and preferences are used solely to send you notifications about new restaurants, dishes, or articles matching your selections. We send notifications only when we manually trigger them.
- Group dining sessions — your name and rankings are shared with the session organizer to determine the group's top restaurant choice. Session data is automatically deleted after 7 days.
- Community submissions — restaurant suggestions are reviewed before publication and used only to improve the guide.
What We Don't Do
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties
- We do not use your data for advertising
- We do not send marketing emails unrelated to your alert preferences
- We do not build profiles or track behavior across sessions
Data Storage
Subscriber data is stored in a private Google Sheet accessible only to WellFedDC. Group session data is stored temporarily and deleted after 7 days. We use Google's infrastructure for storage and Netlify for hosting — both are industry-standard providers with strong security practices.
Your Rights
You can unsubscribe from alerts at any time using the unsubscribe link included in every notification email. You can also request deletion of your data by emailing 4wellfeddc@gmail.com. We will remove your information within 7 days.
If you are located in the European Union, you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Contact us at the email above to exercise these rights.
Third-Party Services
WellFedDC uses the following third-party services to operate:
- Google Maps — for the restaurant map display
- Google Sheets — for data storage
- Netlify — for hosting and server functions
- Cloudinary — for dish photo storage
- Gmail — for sending alert notifications
Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing their data handling.
